Within the framework of the Call to Action Field Implementation Project. The president of the Widad Organization for Women and Children, Ms. Widad Zubaidi, participated. In an advanced capacity-building training workshop targeting women-led organizations under the umbrella of the Women’s Peace Network. The workshop was held at the Arjaan Rotana Hotel in Erbil from September 24 to 26. With the participation of a group of women leaders and representatives of women’s civil society organizations from different governorates of Iraq.
The workshop, which was organized by the Women’s Empowerment Organization and the Baghdad Women’s Association. Funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. Focused on enhancing leadership skills and strategic planning. The training program also included a discussion of legal amendments and their impact on girls and women. Capacity-building training with a focus on climate change impact. Group activities to develop local strategies to support survivors. Finally, the training on cultural sensitivity in responding to violence against girls and women concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation.
Ms. Widad Zubaidi expressed her gratitude for this valuable opportunity. She noted the importance of this type of training in empowering Iraqi women to play a greater role in developing their communities and minimizing violence against girls and women. Al-Widad seeks to transfer these experiences to members of the local community through future programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s participation in cultural and social fields.
The workshop concluded with a consultative session on the challenges facing women’s organizations in Iraq. It came up with practical recommendations to enhance coordination and cooperation between these organizations at the local and international levels.
